The Commerce City Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Commission is committed to creating opportunities that bring the community together to embrace diversity. Following their celebratory movie events earlier this year, the commission is excited to host a special screening of “Brother Bear” for Native American Heritage Month.

Join us on Friday, Nov. 21, at 6 p.m. at Eagle Pointe Recreation Center, 6060 Parkway Dr. for a screening of this G-rated film telling the story of a young Inuit hunter who magically changes into a bear as punishment after needlessly killing a bear. A talkative cub becomes his only guide to changing back as they explore themes of transformation, empathy, forgiveness, and family.

From agriculture and governance to medicine and technology, Native Americans have shaped modern life in countless ways. These vital contributions of Indigenous wisdom and creativity continue to enrich the world we live in today. The DEI Commission invites the community to come together and celebrate their impact with a family-friendly film that highlights a bond that extends beyond blood relation to all living beings.
